Back in July, Mike Pipho's 2-year-old granddaughter, Savannah Rose Pipho, was seriously injured in an automobile accident in Texas and her life hung in the balance. Mike, who lives in Maple City, was desperate to see her, but didn't have the money for the trip to Texas.

Mike took his problem to WKLT and was allowed to go on the air with Omelette and Finster and share his story. Thanks to some generous listeners, Mike was on a bus to Texas the next day and was able to spend a month in Texas as Savannah started her recovery.

"I just want to thank all the people who helped me," Mike said, adding that he received donations from Ginny and Gary Hlavka, Janis Javin, Mark Engle, Jerry Running, Alicia Hill, GTP Franchising, Robert Reed and the Musselman family.

He also wants to thank Mike from Cherry Capital Cab Co. who said he would give Mike a ride anywhere he needed to go, either in his cab or his own vehicle.

Mike said that Savannah has four more months of physical therapy, and is expected to make a full recovery. Knowing this, Mike said, is just about the best Christmas present he ever received.

Morgan Freeman buys plane as pre-Christmas gift!

New York, Dec 6 (IANS) Oscar-award winning actor Morgan Freeman has treated himself to an early Christmas present with a private plane.

The actor, who endured a stint in the US Air Force in his younger days, began learning to fly in 2002 before earning his pilot’s licence and he has now bought his first jet for a journey around the world, reports buzzhollywood.com.

“I’m flying from here (US) to South Africa. Then, since we’ve got some business down there, we’re going to Botswana… then we’re going to go to Kenya, northern Kenya, because we’ve been invited to visit a local tribe. The reason we’re doing all this is because I’ve got my own plane. Brand new. Me and my co-pilot (will be flying it),” he said.

Freeman also brags about his plane.

“I started flying in 2002. I’ve got everything that the law requires (fitted to my plane),” he said.

Freeman joins the celebrity flying bandwagon that includes the likes of Harrison Ford, Tom Cruise, John Travolta, Angelina Jolie, Hilary Swank and supermodel Gisele Bundchen.
